Joseph Manna Sr

Joseph Manna, Sr., 86, of Inverness entered the presence of Jesus on January 21, 2022, at Citrus Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born in Chicago, IL to the late Vito Manna and Antoinette Conenna of Chicago, IL on January 23, 1935.

He had many friends while growing up, including uncles who were more like brothers. He played football at Crane Technical High School in Chicago, and later served in the Illinois National Guard for nine years.

He worked in building maintenance and after moving to Inverness in 1979, was employed by the College of Central FL in Ocala as Director of Buildings and grounds for 10 years. He worked for the CCSO as a Public Service Officer for 17 years, retiring at the age of 80.

He enjoyed fishing, listening to many types of music, and watching sports, and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Blackhawks and Bears.

He was predeceased by his parents, sister Caroline Verdone of Inverness, and many aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Gloria Manna, daughter Antonette (Mark) Scott of Inverness, son Joseph Manna, Jr. and future daughter-in-law Renee Goode of St. Augustine, three grandchildren, Laura (Justin) Dame of Leander, TX, Nichole Manna of Ft Worth, TX, Joey Manna of Jacksonville, and two great grandsons, Aiden Gross and Aiden Carson of Leander, TX.

Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, February 5 at 11:00 a.m. at Charles E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, with Reverend Dr. Mark Scott officiating. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family would request donations to the Phil Royal Legacy Foundation.
