Muriel I Hamerick Johnson, 100, of Inverness, FL passed away January 17, 2022, at Pleasant Grove Manor in Inverness. She was born in Monticello, FL on April 16, 1921 to the late Frank and Lila Hamerick. On October 1, 1946 she married Harold Patrick Johnson, who was a Navy veteran. They shared 34 years together before “Mickey” lost his life in an automobile accident in 1980. Muriel never had children of her own, but was able to enjoy a host of nieces and nephews that knew they were so special to her. After her husband’s accident, Muriel moved back to Florida where she grew up to be near her family. She was very active in the Churches where she lived. Among her many talents was playing the organ in church for many years. She also was a talented painter (acrylic and oil) who shared her art with many friends. She worked in her woodworking shop, and enjoyed sewing. She was Director of Women’s Missions at First Baptist Church of Floral City where she was a very active member; making quilts and clothes with her group of ladies to give away as mission projects. Her church donated a brick inscribed with her name to the WMU’s Walk of Faith. This honor and memorial is an opportunity to pay tribute to those who have played an important role in their missions journey. Muriel leaves behind a host of people that loved her, and appreciate God for allowing her to be a part of our lives. Muriel wants to be remembered as she was the last time she was with her friends, and chose not to have any services. Private cremation arrangements under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness.
