On the morning of November 30, 2021 Steven Wayne Smolensky was taken too soon from his family and friends at the young age of 52. Steve was born to Wayne and Carine Smolensky on February 22, 1969 in Tampa, FL. He is preceded in death by his daughter Meagan Ashley Smolensky. He is survived by his wife, Katie Smolensky, two daughters, Jennifer Smolensky of Longwood, FL, and Caitlyn Smolensky of Crystal River, FL, step-son Jacob Everett, his parents Wayne and Carine Smolensky of Inverness, FL, his first best friend, sister Stacey Engstrom and her children Alyssa and Mitchell Engstrom. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, in-law family, and loved friends.

Sadly, Steve lost his first love and first born daughter, Meagan Ashley, in 1994. He went on to have two more beautiful daughters, Jennifer and Catie. They were his greatest pride and joy and loved them with his whole being. He was also very proud of his step son Jacob, who is currently following in his footsteps with a career in law enforcement. Steve married the love of his life and best friend, Katie, in 2017. They shared their lives together in Inverness, FL doing all the things they loved and living their best lives.

In his youth, Steve was a Boy Scout. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout with troop 302 from Inverness, FL. He graduated from Citrus High School in 1987. Steve started his dream of becoming a law enforcement officer when he became a deputy with the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office in 1992. After 25 years, he completed that mission retiring in 2017 doing what he loved; by serving his great community of Citrus County. Steve also obtained his Bachelor of Science and Management Degree in 2011.

Steve was currently working for Suburban Propane as a bobtail delivery driver and regional driver trainer. He proudly served no matter where he was needed. A few of Steve’s greatest passions were being on the water in his boat or with his RV at a campground riding his golf cart or motorcycle. He lived his life to the fullest. He also had a great love for movies and music, with a great fondness for Neil Diamond who is the “greatest singer/songwriter/performer of this and any other generation”.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Wednesday, December 8th at 2:00 PM at Calvary Chapel Church, 960 South Florida Avenue, Inverness, FL. Dr. Doug Alexander will officiate. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home With Crematory is assisting the family.
