William D Soper MD

William Donald Soper, M.D. of Hernando, FL passed away at his home while surrounded by his loving family on November 20, 2021 at the age of 79. He was born to the late Donald and Emogene (Parks) Soper on September 1, 1942 in St. Joseph, MO.

William was a member of the U.S. Army National Guard for many years. After earning his Doctorate Degree in Medicine, he went into private practice and owned and operated the Liberty Clinic in Liberty, MO for almost 50 years.

William established a home here in Citrus County 7 years ago and enjoyed spending time playing golf with his friends at the Citrus Hills Golf and Country Club. He also had an artistic flair and greatly enjoyed photography and woodworking and had made many spice racks and cutting boards for family and friends. He also enjoyed technology and learning and keeping up with the latest advances and innovations available. William was Catholic by faith and a parishioner of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Kansas City, MO.

Those left to mourn William’s passing include his wife of 39 years, Patricia Soper; his sons: Doug Soper and his wife Margaret, Greg Soper, Jon Soper and his wife Keri; stepson, Mark Thompson; stepdaughters: Colleen Pelletier and Bridget Sonnleiter; sister, Jo Anne Groenenboom; grandchildren: Kirra, Billy, Morgan, Sara, Aubrey; great grandchildren: John, Grace, William and Hudson. He will also be missed by his faithful Lhasa Apso, Annie. William was sadly preceded in death by his son in law, US Army Lieutenant Colonel Jason E. Pelletier in 2020.

A Gathering of Bill’s Family and Friends is planned for Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the Garden Room at the Citrus Hills Golf and Country Club in Hernando. Cremation care by the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
