Dorothy Nell Schutt of Inverness, FL passed away at Diamond Ridge Health and Rehab in Lecanto on November 7, 2021 at the age of 83. She was born to the late Lemunal and Anna (Ford) Meadows on October 18, 1938 in Detroit, MI.
On April 26, 1968 she was united in marriage with Gaylord H. Schutt with whom she shared 28 years of loving marriage until his passing on October 24, 1996. Dorothy and her husband resided in New Baltimore, MI but made Hilman, MI their home in 1989. In 1992, they became Florida “Snowbirds” and eventually made Inverness, FL their permanent home.
Dorothy’s activities included being a Den Mother, Softball Coach and helping out with the New Baltimore Wrestling Team. Once she made Inverness her home she became a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the VFW and IRRU.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Wayne Caruthers, Nancy Bayonces, Thomas Caruthers, Laura (Chris) Bianco, James Caruthers, Donna Kleb, Jeffery (Laurie) Schutt, Lemual (Melissa) Schutt, Earl (Kim) Schutt and Anna (Rick) Rhein. She is also survived by stepchildren: Henry (Lark) Schutt, August Schutt, John Schutt, Ernie (Sharon) Schutt, Alfred (Terry) Schutt, Kathy Parr and Wanda Sampson. Dorothy also leaves behind a great many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Caroline Bayles; stepchildren: Jeanette Coulon, Gaylord H. Schutt, Jr., Delores Harm, Joyce Martis; sister, Della Absher; brother, Paul Meadows.
Services for Dorothy will take place in Michigan at a later date and will be under the direction of Will & Schwarzkoff Funeral Home in Mount Clemens, MI. Cremation care provided by the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
