Michael Frank Mokszycki of Lecanto, FL passed away at Citrus Memorial Hospital on September 29, 2021 at the age of 93. He was born to the late William and Kunegunda (Oko) Mokszycki on September 23, 1928 in Athens, NY. On October 18, 1953 he married Barbara (Albrecht) with whom he shared 68 years of loving marriage. Michael worked as a Corrections Supervisor for the New York Department of Corrections and retired after 25 years of service. Together he and his wife Barbara made Lecanto, FL their home 30 years ago after relocating from Athens, NY. A Catholic by faith, he was a parishioner of St. Scholastica Catholic Church. Michael loved the outdoors and being outside. He was a very handy man and in his spare time he enjoyed working in his shop and was almost always tinkering or working on a project. He wasn’t one to sit around.
In addition to his loving wife Barbara, those left to mourn Michael’s passing include his sons: Steven (Suzanne Zindell) Mokszycki, Joseph (Donna) Mokszycki, William (Debbie) Mokszycki, David (Mary Jane) Mokszycki; daughter, Diane (Kevin) White; brother, John Mokszycki; sister, Victoria Borgen; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Michael was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Mokszycki; brothers: Joseph and Andrew Mokszycki; and sister, Anna Mokszycki.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Lecanto, FL on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 11:00 AM and will be conducted by Father Jose Tejada. Additional services will be held for Michael in New York and are being planned by his family. He will be laid to rest at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Catskill, NY at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
