James Sherwood Dennis, “Jim”, 87, of Inverness, FL passed away on September 24th, 2021 under the care of Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness, FL. He was born to the late Andrew and Ethel (Fox) Dennis on February 7th, 1934 and was an Owner and Operator of his own trucking company for many years. He made Citrus County his home in 2014 when he moved here with his wife, Rosemarie, from Pennsylvania.
Jim will be remembered for his love of flying his private planes. He flew any chance he could get and frequently lived in lake airport communities so that flying would be accessible to him. He loved to travel in his motorhome with Rosemarie and did that for more than 10 years. He is described as being a friendly person and could strike up a conversation and make a friend anywhere. He was a devoted husband to Rosemarie and loved his family dearly.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Robert. Those left to cherish his memory are Rosemarie, his wife of 51 years, daughter, Karen Shaffer, and grandson, Thomas Shaffer.
Arrangements for Jim are private at this time. Cremation with Care is under the direction of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, FL.
