Loel “Lori” Allen Greene, 79 and a thirty-year resident of the Inverness/Lecanto area, passed peacefully in hospice with family by her side on August 5, 2021. A native of Jamestown, New York, Lori was a graduate of Southwestern High School and Grove City College and Antioch University. A career educator, she started, managed, and consulted on a variety of childcare services for the Federal Government in the Washington D.C. area before retiring to central Florida in the early 1990’s. There she partnered with her brother Hap running the fine dining restaurant Country Oaks Inn in Lecanto for several years.
A lifelong learner, Lori loved spending time in her beloved Chautauqua, reading, playing bridge, and entertaining friends, starting most days at the Hen House. Lori also enjoyed adventure, including traveling the United States with her second husband, Bob, cruising through the Panama Canal, riding her motorcycle with the “Retreads” and obtaining her pilot’s license. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Inverness, also attending the First United Methodist and St Margaret’s churches. A long-term volunteer at Citrus Memorial Hospital, Stephen Ministries, and numerous other organizations, she is survived by her sons Brian (Rachel, Kathryn of Pittsburgh, PA) and Christopher (Karen, Cody and Keeley of Derwood, MD), her sister Lynne Reading and brother Hayward Hough (Sandy). Husbands David Allen and Robert Greene preceded her in death.
