James Merenda, 89, of Lecanto, FL passed to be with his Lord and Savior on July 3, 2021 at his residence in Lecanto. He was born in Newark, NJ on February 18, 1932 to the late John and Harriet (Pott) Merenda.
Jim served our country honorably in the U.S. Navy. He was a homicide detective for the Baltimore, MD police department, and arrived in this area in 2002, coming from Englewood, FL. Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spending time outdoors and in his workshop. He had a great sense of humor, but most importantly, he knew Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife Suella in 2017, his sister Grace Crouse, and his grandchild, Travis. Mourning his passing are his children Michael Merenda and his wife Susan of Nokomis, FL, and Kathryn Jamrock and her husband John of St. Charles, MO; step daughter Roxanne Umstot of Hyndman, PA; and grandchildren Christina, Logan, and Hans.
