Millie King, 83 of Inverness, passed away June 20, 2021 at Citrus Memorial Hospital. Millie was born on April 13, 1938 in New York City, NY, to the late John and Mary (Chuprun) Markovich. She came to Citrus County in 1991 from Stockton, California, and was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Inverness. She was a transcriber with the Citrus County Sheriff’s office for 11 years and was in law enforcement for 46 years.
Millie’s affiliations include: Past President of the East Citrus Republican Club, Committee Woman for the Republican Executive Committee, Secretary for the Friendship Quilters Guild, President of the Inverness Chapter of Mended Hearts, Member of the Women of the First Lutheran Church and the First Lutheran Church Alter Guild.
Left to cherish her memory are her son: Ronald Lebed; her sister, Susie Yakabooski, her step daughter, Donna Plichta and husband Michael, and step son Stephen King; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her dear friend and caregiver, Thala Duteau. Millie was preceded in death by her first husband, John Lebed, who was killed in the line of duty in New Jersey in 1960; her second husband, Donald King in 2018, her son John Lebed in 2021, and her brother John Markovich and sisters, Katherine Letosky and Maryanne Smaligo.
Funeral services for Millie will be conducted on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 11:00 AM from the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, in Inverness, with Rev. Tom Beaverson, Pastor of the First Lutheran Church in Inverness. Millie’s urn will be interred at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, at a later date, with her husband Donald.
