Where Planning Is A Gift That Lives On

Glenn Gonzalez Sr

On Thursday, June 10, 2021 Glenn Gonzalez, Sr. (Double G/DaBullG) passed away unexpectedly at the age of 66 at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness, FL. Born in Tampa, FL to Johnnie and Grace Gonzalez, he remained a Tampa resident until moving to Inverness, FL when he semi-retired in 2015.
Glenn held many positions throughout his life, but his two most loved careers were as a Hillsborough County deputy and working over 30 years in the radio industry as a Promotions Coordinator, Event Coordinator, Fleet Manager, Engineer Tech and pirate ship float driver. Well, basically, anything and everything, except for being a DJ. As others have said, WQYK Radio’s legacy was built on the back of Double G. He was a man who never met a stranger and easily made and maintained relationships with all types of vendors with whom he could call on to make every event or task he was involved with work smoothly.
He loved to please and would not turn down a request for help. But his greatest joys in life were his family, cooking and fishing and all the better when they were combined. He loved putting on a huge spread for all the holidays, always bringing a large group of family and friends together.
Glenn was predeceased by his father Johnnie and son Justin. He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his mother, Grace, wife Laura; sons Glenn Gonzalez Jr. (Gina), Michael Gonzalez, Jonathan Gonzalez (Kathi), and Joshua Gonzalez (Kaitlyn), daughters Marissa Nuce (Dennis), Christina Schleman and Sadie Rau (Joshua), sisters Janet Rifkin (Steve) and Doreen Moore (Johnny), former stepdaughter Ashley, nine grandchildren (soon to be twelve!), one great-grand son and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life was held on July 17 at the Dallas Bull in Tampa, FL.
