William H. Spooner, 95, of Inverness, FL passed away on April 26, 2021 at New Horizon Assisted Living in Inverness. He was born to the late Thomas and Mildred (Peckham) Spooner on February 18, 1926 in Newport, Rhode Island and made Citrus County his home in 1988. He was a Clerk in Civil Service for many years and bravely served our country as a member of the United States Navy, serving in both WWII on the USS Terror and the Korean War on the USS Wisconsin.
William will be remembered as being a very funny person who was always able to have a great sense of humor despite any circumstances he may be in. At one time, he owned and operated his own painting business, Spooner Painting” where he painted houses. He was a very hard worker and loved to stay busy.
Along with his parents, William was preceded in death by his two brothers, Edward and Thomas Spooner. Those left to cherish his memory, including his wife of 35 years, Sally, are his seven children, William Spooner, Robert Spooner, Michael Spooner, Jane Foss, Amanda Ennis, Alexander Netten, and Theodore Netten and several grandchildren.
Arrangements for William are private at this time. He will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery of Bushnell, FL at a later date. Cremation with Care is under the direction of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, FL.
