Donald L. Whitehead, 85, of Inverness, FL passed away on April 14, 2021 at HPH Hospice in Lecanto, FL. He was born to the late Harry and Edith (Kauterman) Whitehead in Reading, PA on December 4, 1935. He was a World Wide Director of Purchasing for United Technologies for 25 years, which allowed him the great opportunity of traveling the world. He made Citrus County his home, alongside his wife, Sylvia, 21 years ago when they moved from Avon, Connecticut. Donald was a member at Seven Rivers Presbyterian Church of Lecanto, FL and was always very involved in church throughout his life. He was also very involved in Valley Community Baptist Church in Avon, Connecticut, where he served as a Deacon, an Elder, and a Church Chairman. He was truly a student of the Bible, and taught many Bible Classes. Donald loved playing golf and watching baseball, and was a huge Tampa Bay Rays Fan. He also enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be remembered for being a great father and grandfather.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Sylvia; his children, Douglas (Meredith) of Ft. Myers, FL, Peter (Jennifer) of Cleveland, OH, Thomas (Kathleen) of Washington, DC, and Diane Respess (Langley) of Atlanta, GA; and his 11 cherished grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life is being held in Shillington, Pennsylvania on Friday, April 23, 2021. He will be laid to rest at Lauerldale Cemetery of Reading, Pennsylvania. Local arrangements are private and are under the direction of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, FL.
