Shirley Lucille Benke, 78 of Homosassa, passed away April 8, 2021 at the Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point in Hudson. Shirley was born in Chicago, IL on November 24, 1942, to the late George Daniel and Aurora Blanche (Nickels) Ross. She came to Citrus County in 2004 from Gulfport, FL Shirley was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker and of the Lutheran Faith.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 58 years, Charles A. Benke; 1 son: Scott Charles Benke, Gulfport, FL ; two daughters: Debra Jean Overton, Grand Junction, MI; Susan Marie Newkirk, Homosassa, FL; her sister: Janet Bitunjac, Chicago, IL; 2 Grandchildren: David Charles and Michelle Catherine Overton.
Shirley’s life will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 14th at 3:00 PM from the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Beaverson of the First Lutheran Church of Inverness officiating. Burial will follow in Florida National Cemetery.
