Francis Robert Kampfer, 89, born on June 16, 1931, in New York City, NY, passed away on April 8, 2021. He resided in Homosassa, Florida with his family at the time of his passing.
This memorial is to celebrate the life of our beloved Father. His friends knew him as Bob, Ollie, Fritzi, PopPop, Chop Meat, Mickey Mandel and many more nicknames. All of us admired him for so many things – his hard work ethics, devotion to his family, big personality, enormous heart & generosity, amazing humor, incredible determination, his zest for life and his love of Golf and “Happy Hour”. His sense of humor touched many lives and his nicknames for people and crazy sayings made everyone laugh.
Francis was born in New York City, NY to Frank and Paula (Jung) Kampfer. As a young boy, while visiting family in Germany, WWII broke out and they could not return to America until after the war. Francis had a tough childhood. Eventually, as a true American Patriot, Francis enlisted in the United States Army in 1949. He was a Combat Medic during the Korean War and was nicknamed “DOC”. He was Honorably Discharged in 1953 and received a Korea Service Medal with 5 Campaign Stars, a United States Service Medal, Korean Presidential Citation and Medical Combat Badge.
Francis owned and operated a successful Meat Provisions Route in New Jersey and made Citrus County his home in 1993 after retiring and moving from Toms River, NJ to Citrus Hills with his late wife Roselma, whom he married in 1952.
Francis devoted his time to playing Golf with his friends at Citrus Hills Country Club. He always believed that life should be passionate, full of fun, and everyone should have a “cock-a-tail” with him. He loved the NY Yankees and followed all Sports. Let’s just say he was always in control of the TV remote control.
This is the legacy Francis leaves behind. The memories he gave us will live on forever.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Roselma and his brother, Paul. Those left to cherish his memory are his four daughters, Roselma Kruschke and husband Tom, Debra Magno, Susan Maczik and husband Joe, Diane Schmidt and husband Skip (Coach Ray) ; his four grandchildren, Robert Hurley and wife Amanda, Erica Jernigan, Anthony Peifer, and Christina Corcoran; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
