James Leroy Blackmer, age 74, Bushnell, FL passed away March 26, 2021 at Citrus Memorial Hospital under the care of Vitas Hospice.
James was born in Flint, MI on August 1, 1946 to the late Edwin and Nelly (DeRoucher) Blackmer and came to Florida as a permanent resident 3 years ago from Fostoria, MI. He retired from General Motors Corporation after 32 years of service, working on the assembly line for several years before assuming other responsibilities prior to his retirement. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Bushnell, FL.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sheryl Thorp Blackmer, Bushnell, FL; 2 children: Anthony James Blackmer of Caro, MI and Jamie Kay Beals of Muskegon, MI;
two brothers: Edwin and Rick Blackmer of Michigan and his sister, Edna Sue Marlow, also of Michigan; and 6 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Robert and Ernie Blackmer and his sister, Margaret Harmon.
Jim’s life will be remembered and celebrated on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at 3:00 PM from Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 5599 C.R. 316-S. Bushnell, FL. Additional services and burial will follow later in Michigan. Cremation With Care. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home With Crematory, Inverness, FL
