The Rev.Loran E. Smith, Sr., age 89, Lecanto, FL passed away March 20, 2021 at Vitas Hospice. A native of Stearns, KY, he was born April 8, 1931 to the late John W. Smith and Alcie Stephens Smith and came to Florida 20 years ago from Kentucky. He retired from the Indianapolis plant of Ford Motor Company with 40 years of service. When he retired, he was a job setter. Additionally, he was an Ordained Minister. Loran was a Korean War Veteran, having served our country in the U.S. Army, and was a member of Ft. Cooper Baptist Church.

He is survived by: his wife of 38 years, Patricia (Lewellen) Smith; his surviving children are: Loran E. Smith, Jr, Vickie Davis, Gena Roland, Daphne Gist, and Stephanie Ball. He was predeceased by his daughter, Elsie McKeeman. Patricia’s children are: William Bandy, Michael Bandy, David Bandy, Virginia Roach, and Cheryl Starr. Loran is also survived by his brother, Carl Smith and his sister, Bonnie Haynes. There are 19 grandchildren surviving and many great and great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Ft. Cooper Baptist Church with Rev.Marne Palmani officiating. Burial will follow in Hills of Rest Cemetery. Friends may call at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday from 3:00 – 5:00 PM
