Thomas J. Pomahac Sr, of Inverness, Florida died at Vitas Hospice in Lecanto, Florida on Saturday, February 20th, 2021 at the age of 86. Tom was born to Joseph and Eleanore Pomahac on January 11th, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up in Cicero, Illinois and graduated from J Sterling Morton East HS before enlisting in the US Navy. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, and his first born daughter Christine.
Tom married Patricia Fierst on April 23, 1960. They raised their family in Lombard, Illinois. Tom and Pat retired to Florida in 1997. They were married for 58 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was an active member of St. Scholastica where he was a eucharistic minister.
Tom is survived by his son Thomas J. (Carrie ) Pomahac Jr., Geri ( John ) Cedarburg, son-in-law David Buzenius, grandfather of Heather ( Ian ) Stites, Jamie Pomahac, Sarah Buzenius, Joseph Pomahac, Anna Cedarburg, Kenny Buzenius, Axel Cedarburg, and Matt Cedarburg. Great grandfather to Nora Ingram, Evie Lynn and Noelle Stites.
Tom loved dancing, square-dancing for years with his wife. He loved to play the piano and play cards. He also loved his rose garden taking pride in being a self – proclaimed rosarian. He loved his family and will be missed by all who knew him.
A memorial will be held in honor of Tom on Friday, March 5th, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations to Brookdale Citrus Memory Care Facility at 2341 W. Norvell Bryant HWY, Lecanto, Fl., 34461. Arrangements are under the direction of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, Florida.
