Where Planning Is A Gift That Lives On

Nelda M Ollmann

Nelda Maye Ollmann, 98 of Beverly Hills, FL, passed away February 16, 2021, under the loving care of her family and Vitas Hospice. Nelda was born in Kingston, Illinois on May 24, 1922, to the late Frank and Mayme (Armbruster) Jackson. She took on several occupations during her life, serving as a farmer’s wife, waitress, and owner/operator of her own childcare business before retiring in the early eighties and becoming a snowbird, living between Belvidere, Illinois and Lakeland, Florida. In 2020, she made Citrus County her home. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Belvidere and deeply loved and served her Lord. She also regularly volunteered for various organizations and charities. Nelda was known by many as a “people person”, as she greatly enjoyed spending time with her Lakeland “kids”/neighbors playing shuffleboard, attending block parties, throwing her annual pie party, playing cards and going out to eat. She often said, “No matter what anyone is doing, I am up for it!” Throughout her life, Nelda loved camping, knitting, sewing, crafting, cooking and especially baking, being considered by loved ones as the “best pie maker on Earth”. She also had a passion for traveling; she loved cruising and most recently spent her 90th birthday in Hawaii and 95th in the North Carolina mountains.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Lyla (Jan) Tews, and DeeAnn (Cliff) Grice, both of Beloit, WI, Kimberly (Buddy) Bush-Klinefelter of Beverly Hills, FL; daughter-in-law, Deborah Ollmann of Kingston, IL; nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sons: Ralph (1970) and Roger Ollmann (2016) and husbands Roy Ollmann, Jr. (1986) and Herman Steinke(2013), and her grandson, Scott Maynard (1999).
Her funeral service is scheduled February 28, 2021 at 2:00 PM Eastern Standard Time at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Beverly Hills, Florida. Friends are invited to visit with family from 1:30 PM until the hour of service. The service will be live streamed for those unable to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fight Colorectal Cancer (FightCRC), St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or Immanuel Lutheran Church. At a later date, her urn will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Highland Garden of Memories in Belvidere, IL. Cremation arrangements are under the care of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory in Inverness.
