John William “Jack” Monck of Brooksville, FL, graduated to Heaven at Bayfront Health of Brooksville on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2021, at the age of 87.
Jack was born to the late Matthew and Mary (Shibley) Monk on November 8, 1933 in Homestead, PA. He proudly served his country as a member of both the United States Army and the United States Navy. Jack earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida and worked as a consulting engineer for city utilities.
On April 21, 2000, he married Winifred “Louise” (Walsh) with whom he shared 20 years of loving marriage. Jack was a charter member of New Testament Baptist Church in Floral City, FL. He and Louise taught the Nursery Sunday School Class and the Children’s Missionary Class for many years. Some of their students are grown and serving the Lord on the mission field. Jack also enjoyed working in his yard, gardening and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Louise, Jack is survived by his son, John W. Monck, II of Ocala; daughter, Joann Peeples, and her husband, Kevin, of Floral City; stepsons, Mark Rigsby and his wife, Brenda, of Brooksville; Terry Rigsby and his wife, Diane, of Demorest, GA; stepdaughter, Marsha Milburn, and her husband, Craig, of Burlington, KY; son in law, Daniel Seest, of Floral City; 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Monck, in 1992, daughter, Jennifer Seest, in 2018, great grandson, David Liam Peeples, in 2018, and 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
A celebration of Jack’s life is scheduled for Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the New Testament Baptist Church in Floral City and will be conducted by Pastor Ledford Hodges. Military honors will be rendered by Inverness VFW #4337 Honor Guard. Private burial will take place at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Missions Fund at New Testament Baptist Church of Floral City, which supports missionaries and the spreading of the Gospel of Jesus Christ around the world.
