David W Vance

David Westley Vance of Inverness, FL passed away at his home on February 14, 2021 at the age of 68. David was born to the late Carroll and Artie (Donohoe) Vance on August 17, 1952 in Wayne, WV. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he attended Marshall University in Huntington, WV and went on to work as an administrator for the V.A. Hospital. He was married to his loving wife Debora (Van Tassel) Vance for 29 years. David and Debora made Citrus County their home 22 years ago after relocating from Erie, PA. He was a Catholic by faith and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Inverness. David enjoyed watching football, especially his alma mater, Marshall University. He also loved to work on and refurbish pocket watches. David would purchase broken pocket watches, take the time to restore them and gift them to his family members or sell them on E-Bay. He did so with no formal training in watch making or refurbishment.

In addition to his wife Debora, those left to mourn David’s passing include his sons: Shawn Vance and his wife Alissa of Mount Dora, FL, Tyler Vance of Peekskill, NY, Austin Vance of Savannah, GA; brother, Joseph Vance and his wife Mary of West Virginia; sisters: Vivian Atkinson, Jenny Lambert and Liz Bradley, all of West Virginia; and grandchildren: Katie, Jacob, Kristina and Michael. David was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Junkin in 2010. Cremation care by the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
