James E. Jones of Inverness, FL passed away at New Horizon Assisted Living on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at the age of 92. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Korean War. James was married to his loving wife Nancy Lee Jones for 63 years until her passing on November 18, 2013. He and Nancy made Inverness their home 22 years ago after relocating from Manassas, VA. James was a Christian by faith and a lay minister. He most recently attended worship services at the Inverness Church of God. In his spare time he liked camping, fishing, traveling and enjoyed meeting new people along the way. James was a master gardener and could grow anything, his favorite being tomatoes. He learned these skills while growing his own food as a youth in Virginia.
Those left to mourn James’ passing include his children: Stephen Jones and his wife Debby, Audrey Morgan and her husband Frank, Phillip Jones and his wife Johnnie Lynn, Keith Jones, Eric Jones and his wife Linda; sister, Betty Lou Jones; grandchildren: Tracey Ayres, JoAnna DesFonds and her husband John, Zachary Morgan and his wife Lindsay, Summer Morgan, Ashley Klotzbach and her husband Roy, Bryan Jones and his wife Connie, Suzanne Jones, Amanda Banks and her husband Daniel, Logan Jones, Chelsea Runkles; 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service of Remembrance is scheduled for Friday, February 5, 2021 at 4:00 PM at the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home. Full military honors will be rendered by Inverness VFW #4337 Honor Guard. Friends are invited to join in visitation with the family beginning at 3:30 PM. Arrangements are under the care of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness.
