Alan J. “AJ” Martin, 66, of Inverness, FL passed away on January 22, 2021 at Seven Rivers Hospital of Crystal River, FL. He was born to the late Afton and Clara (Harrison) Martin on January 28, 1954 in St. Petersburg, FL.
He was an Electrician for over 50 years and owned and operated his own company, “AJ’s Electric” in St. Pete for many years. He married his beloved wife, Elaine, almost 6 years ago and they have enjoyed many special memories together, including watching romance movies, going out to eat several times a week at various local restaurants, adding two much loved puppies, Bailie and Bella, to their family, spending time with family and friends, and many, many more.
AJ loved classic cars and going to car shows. A dream of his was always to build and restore a classic car with his very good friend, Chuck Kanehl. He loved wood working and making picture frames and other wood projects. Harley Davidson was near and dear to him and he loved to ride his Harley. AJ also loved guns and his gun collection and spent many afternoons out on the gun range target practicing.
He will be remembered as being a very fun loving, kind, and helping person. AJ was a people person and always loved helping others in any way that he could. He was a family man and never met a stranger a day in his life. He was one of a kind and very spiritual in nature. He and his wife loved to talk about Jesus together and he had a very close, personal relationship with the Lord. AJ had many talents, friends, and memories with those he loved and he will be deeply missed.
AJ is preceded in death by his brother, Glenn Martin and by his sister, Joyce Johns, who passed in June of last year. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Elaine; his two children, Jeremy Martin of St. Petersburg and Lisa Wilkinson (Matt) of St. Petersburg; his sister, Ginger Jaspers.
A Celebration of Life for AJ is scheduled for Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 3 PM with Pastor Greg Kell officiating at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, FL. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 2 PM until the hour of service.
Arrangements and Cremation with Care is under the direction of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Invernress, FL.
