David G. Stoner, 74, of Mechanicsburg, PA and long time winter-resident of Floral City, FL, passed away on January 17, 2021 at Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness, FL. He was born to the late Lawrence and Lillian (Sherman) Stoner on October 7, 1946 in Mechanicsburg, PA. He was a collator for many years, working for Rite Aid’s Print Shop. He also worked at Highmark Blue Shield and Creekview of Loyalton Assisted Living Home as a bus driver, where all of the residents loved him. He bravely served our country as a member of the United States Army. He married his beloved wife, Colleen, 34 years ago and they have shared much love together.
David is lovingly remembered as being such a character; he was a big jokester and loved to always make people laugh. His nickname is “Web Cam King”, and he obtained that by lovingly, and jokingly, holding a large sign that stated “I KNOW JACK!” to a broadcasting webcam on a popular beach in Delaware. He knew where many web cams were and took that opportunity to make lots of people smile. David absolutely loved playing BINGO online and collecting coins and he considered himself an elite member—he played BINGO any chance he could get. He also enjoyed the lottery and bought tickets every week, hoping for that chance to win.
Along with David’s wife, Colleen, those left to lovingly cherish his memory are his step-son, Richard D. Bender (Christina) of Shippensburg, PA; his two brothers, Jack and Dale Stoner; his two sisters, Susan Hoffman and Edith Warfel; and two cherished step-grand-children, Abigail and Anna; his brother-in-laws, Jeff Shipman and David Shipman; his mother-in-law Loretta Shipman; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life for David will be held at a later date in Pennsylvania, where he will also be laid to rest. Cremation with Care is under the direction of the Chas. E. David Funeral Home, Inverness, FL.
