Betty L. Sperry, age 83, of Inverness, FL, passed away January 14, 2021. Betty was born in Omaha, NE to the late Robert & Louise (Springer) Wheeler. On May 21, 1983, she married Robert Sperry with whom she shared 35 years of loving marriage. In 1990, Betty and Bob moved to Inverness, Fl after relocating from Madison, WI.
They were members of the First Presbyterian Church of Inverness. Betty was a co-founder of the Wisconsin Club of Citrus County and was an active member for several years. She was “Queen Mom” of the Copula Queens Red Hat Ladies Group, in which she formed in Inverness. She also belonged to the Garden Club, Quilters Guild, Inverness Women’s Club and volunteered for numerous years at the Boys & Girls Club in Inverness. She was a loving and caring individual. She was always busy with the clubs she was a member of, crafting or helping out someone else. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
Those left to mourn Betty’s passing include her daughters, Debra (Kent) Ritchie, Michelle (Steven) Hale; a son, Carl Hanson; step-daughters, Lauretta (Dennis) Kluge, Deborah (Don) Willis, Cathy (Tim) Severson; step-son, Michael Sperry; sisters-in-law, Gloria Sperry and Beverly Sperry; brother-in-law, Roger Sperry; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; brother, Robert M. Wheeler; daughter, Teresa Tremelling; father, Robert Wheeler and mother, Louise Wheeler.
A celebration of life service is scheduled for Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 11:30 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Inverness with Dr. Dennis Bennett, officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking you make a donation to the Citrus County Animal Services, 4030 S Airport Rd, Inverness, Fl 34450. Cremation care by the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
