Patricia S. Almand, 83, of Inverness, FL passed away on January 9, 2021 under the care of VITAS hospice of Lecanto, FL. She was born to the late Joseph and Nora (Miles) Murphy on February 18, 1937 in Connellsville, PA. She was a bookkeeper for the majority of her life and in 1979, married her beloved late husband, Wilbur, who passed away on February 27, 1996. After visiting and spending weekends with friends at Turner’s Fish Camp for several years, they loved the area so much that they decided to purchase their retirement home here where they spent most every weekend until retiring and relocating from Tampa in the mid 80’s, enjoying the outdoors fishing from their canal, boating out to the lake or gathering with friends at Turner’s.
She thoroughly enjoyed shopping, could always find a bargain and couldn’t pass up the newest item from “As Seen on TV”. She loved her crafts, making sequined patterns on t-shirts and jackets she created from sweatshirts to give as gifts to family and friends. She loved all animals and couldn’t resist giving it a rub and some love, even if it was a reptile.
Those left to cherish Patricia’s memory are her step-daughter and caretaker, Laura Gonzalez (Glenn) of Inverness and step-son Jeffrey Almand (Ellie) of Land O’ Lakes and; her “adopted daughter”, Becky Behrman of Inverness; three adored grandchildren, Marissa, Christina, and Taylor; and three cherished great-grandchildren, Lily, Will & Kayden. She is also survived by her loving cousins Jean Starling, Rich & Leah Robinson, Paula Baker, Ralph Robinson and Jim Robinson.
Patricia will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery of Bushnell, FL alongside her husband, Wilbur and a Celebration of Life will be held by the family at a later date. Cremation with Care is under the direction of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, FL.
