Walter Daniel Long, 76 of Dunnellon, passed away at home under the loving care of his family on January 2, 2021. Walter was born in the Bronx, NY, on January 9, 1944, to the late Jack and Helen (Ryan) Long. Walter came to Citrus County in 1972 from Queens, NY. He was the owner of Fair Rate Movers and a graduate of La Salle Academy in New York City.
Devoted husband of Carol (Burns) Long for 53 years and loving father of Colleen (Long) Rowley of New Jersey, Vincent (Julann) Long of Tallahassee, Laurene Long of Inverness and Ryan Long of Dunnellon. Proud grandfather of Kristeen, Katie, Kalyn, Kellen, Jack, JJ and Riley, and great grandfather of five. Brother of Eugene (and the late Patricia) Long of Lecanto and Veronica (Bob) Barker of Beverly Hills, and preceded in death by brothers: Vincent Long and John Long and sisters: Doloris Long, Jacquelene Riley and Geraldine Lennon. Further survived by beloved nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Walter will be fondly remembered by his family and friends as a tirelessly hard working and honest man, a loving husband and father, a doting grandfather, a cherished uncle, a loyal friend and a devout Catholic.
Memorial services for Walter will be conducted on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at 3:00 PM, from the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
