Annie May was a Certified Observer for the Aircraft Warning Service under the US ARMY during WW II. She kept watch for enemy aircraft from the tower of the Historic Courthouse in Inverness. She also enjoyed being in “Follow that Dream” movie with Elvis Pressley as an extra in the courthouse scene. She always said he gave her a piece of gum. She loved Nascar and Football! (Loved the Gators) If you wanted a mean piece of fried chicken, you just had to ask! A cast iron skillet was all she needed ….many a Sunday lunch was spent eating her delicious meals cooked with love in her heart! Also had plenty in case anyone stopped by for a visit. Nothing made her happier than having her family all around her.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Hershel “Rocky” Hensley and his wife, Melanie, Inverness, FL; 2 grandchildren: Kristen Todd and Hillary Hammerle (John); 4 great grandchildren: Makayla, Kinnley, and Jackson Todd, and Myles Hammerle. She is also survived by several beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters: Betty Lee McIntyre and Jeannette Walter, who predeceased her two years ago on the very same day.
