Gertrude “Trudy” Dietz Cheresko left this world to be with our “Heavenly Father” on December 3, 2020. She was born on July 11, 1927, the daughter of the late Henry E. and Gertrude DePuy Link, on Staten Island, New York. Trudy was of family of the original French Huguenots on her mother’s side.
From age four to 14 she was a child star, dancing and singing, on radio on The Children’s Hour of Horn and Hardharts. She was a graduate of Port Richmond High School and was very active in sports where she excelled in tennis and bowling. Trudy and two others won the first award of bowling for their school. In 1948 she married a government man, William Monahan, a marriage that lasted 40 years until he passed away in 1988. In 1992 she married Captain Harry Dietz, an airline pilot for PanAm. He passed away in 1998. In 2002 she married Frank Cheresko, a millwright who passed away on March 30, 2010. She is survived by her husband, Don Sullivan, who she married in 2012.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Trudy will be offered on Monday, December 14, 2020 at 11:00 AM from Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Inverness, with Fr. Claudius Mganga, Celebrant. She will be buried at the Shehawken Cemetery in Shehawken, PA. Friends may call at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home in Inverness on Monday from 9:00 AM until the procession to Church at 10:45 AM.
