Johnnie Mack Royal of Inverness, FL passed away at Citrus Memorial Hospital on December 2, 2020 at the age of 72. Johnnie was born in Autryville, NC to the late Roland Duval and Alma Inez (Hall) Royal on June 22, 1948. He made Citrus County his home 5 years ago after relocating from Tennessee. Although a car accident rendered Johnnie a quadriplegic, he was an extremely independent man. He was a volunteer at Cape Fear Valley Regional Rehabilitation for a number of years. It was there he helped teach and train others with quadriplegia and spinal injuries how to care for themselves including dressing and feeding themselves. He was a skilled photographer and earned an Associates Degree in Information Systems from Fayetteville Technical Community College in 2002. Johnnie had participated in various wheelchair athletic events when he was younger. He enjoyed playing pool and loved hot rods and cars, especially El Camino’s. Johnnie really liked going to the Friday night car shows in Inverness. He had a great love for his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Those left to mourn Johnnie’s passing include his daughter Tammy Arnold and her husband Sam; brother, Roger Royal; sisters: Carol Stamp and Kathy Cluster; grandchildren: Dana Lawson, Michael Lawson, Trevor Arnold, Shelby Arnold and Connor Arnold. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Grace Royal; daughter, Deborah Renee Cartrette; and sister, Margaret Collier.
Johnnie will be laid to rest in North Carolina at a later date. Cremation care by the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
