The Rev. David Allan Clevenger, 62 of Inverness, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on August 9, 2020 at Citrus Memorial Hospital. Pastor Clevenger was born on October 11, 1957 in Findlay, Ohio, to the late Marl D. and Rose (Davis) Clevenger. He came to Citrus County in 1983 from Pensacola, FL. following his graduation from college. He had faithfully served as pastor of Grace Tabernacle Independent Baptist Church in Brooksville, FL for the past 10 years.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 35 years, Sally Jepson Clevenger; four children: Marl Clevenger and his wife, Brittany of Athens, GA, Kendra Silva and her husband, Henrry of La Paz, Honduras, Megan Long and her husband, Kevin, of Spring Hill, FL, and Ebba Jean Balmer and her husband Josh, of Yonkers, NY. He is also survived by his brother, Joe Clevenger of Jacksonville, FL; his sisters: Cheryl Bishop of Findlay, OH, Brena Krock of Liberty Township, OH, Marlene Drane of Kewanee, IL and Anna Rush of Findlay, OH; his grandchildren: Abner, Megan and Elias. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Henrry.
David Clevenger was a faithful servant to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He quietly influenced many people to live for eternity during his 38 years of ministry. Though his responsibilities as a pastor and teacher were many, he never allowed those duties to take priority over his family who was so precious to him. He loved his wife Sally and four children second only to his Lord. He was a meek and Biblical leader of his home.
Among his greatest qualities was, no doubt, his ability to listen. He offered great advice but only when called upon to do so. His life was marked by the same humility and grace that Jesus Christ displayed because that was David’s highest priority – to be Christ-like. David will be deeply missed by so many people.
Pastor’s family will plan a Celebration of Life Service at Grace Tabernacle Church at a later date. Cremation with care is scheduled with Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home With Crematory.
