William “Bill” Edward Keenan of Hernando, FL passed away at his home while under the care of Vitas Hospice on July 29, 2020 at the age of 87. Bill was born to the late Irvin and Anna (Butler) Keenan in Persinger, WV on March 19, 1933. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. Bill was married to his loving wife Louise for 62 years. She just recently passed away on July 8, 2020. He and Louise made Citrus County their home in 1971 after relocating from Altamonte Springs, FL. Bill worked as a heavy equipment mechanic throughout his life. In his spare time he enjoyed working in his flower garden and especially liked growing tulips in his backyard and tending to the pineapple plants that lined his driveway. He took a lot of pride in his home and garden and loved the blue bottle trees he had in his yard. In addition to his yard work, Bill always enjoyed working on his farm and raising cows. For vacations, he liked going on cruises with his wife Louise.
Bill is survived by sons, Edward Keenan of St. Petersburg, FL; William Keenan II of Dunnellon, FL; daughter, LuAnn Peters of Land O’ Lakes, FL; sister, Irene Thomas of Summersville, WV; and several grandchildren. He is also survived by his dear friend and caregiver, Jim Fergerson of Hernando, FL. Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Kirkland.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 11:00 AM from the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home and will be conducted by Father Eugene Reuman of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church. Friends are invited to join the family in visitation beginning at 10:00 AM until the hour of service. The Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
