Gary L. Ahart, Sr. of Inverness, FL passed away at Lake City VA Medical Center on April 29th, 2020 at the age of 80 years. He was born to the late George Ernst and Dorothy Rief on December 4th, 1939 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
He married his late wife, Cynthia, in 1963 and moved to Florida from Mississippi in 1987; he then relocated to the Inverness area in 2007 from St. Pete, FL. He worked as a Property Manager for the Mississippi University for Women for many years and bravely and honorably served our great country as a member of the United States Army.
Gary loved collecting civil war memorabilia and vintage cast iron toys. He also enjoyed flea markets, thrift stores and antique malls. He enjoyed attending Floral City Methodist Church.
Along with his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia, who passed away on June 17th, 2012 and by his brother, Robert. Gary is survived by his son, Gary L. Ahart, Jr. and many loving, cherished friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 6th, 2020 at 10 am, with military honors presented by Floral City VFW Post #7122. Calling hours will be from 9 am until the hour of service. Arrangements by Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
