Gale E. “Butch” Tomes passed away on March 14, 2020 at age 71. Born on December 1, 1948 to John and Freida Tomes. Butch lived most of his life in Harrison and Clare Michigan. In his later years Butch moved to Inverness Florida to care for his aging parents.
Drafted into the U.S. Army in 1968, Butch served in the Vietnam War alongside many of his closest friends. He was a man of great character and integrity who thrived on helping others. When he returned home from Vietnam he took a job at EZ Living homes. Many recall seeing him drive to work every morning in his cherished GTO. Upon leaving that job Butch enjoyed a long career in the Automotive industry. His last job was at Mid Michigan Auto parts. He truly loved that job and all the customers along his route looked forward to seeing him, including every cat and dog, for Butch never forgot a treat for them along the way.
Once in Florida, Butch took a job at ICP Group/Aztec where he was a loyal and admired employee up until he became ill. Butch never met a stranger and was kind and thoughtful to everyone he encountered. His absence on this earth will be felt by many. Butch is survived by his mother Lavina “Frieda” Tomes along with his two siblings; sister Susan from California and his brother John Jr. of Pennsylvania. Also, his niece, Angela Weldon Mendicina.
