Gary R. Lawson

Gary Richard Lawson of Beverly Hills, FL passed away on February 17, 2020 at the age of 83. Gary was born to the late William and Marie (Aumuller) Lawson in Brooklyn, NY on June 28, 1936.

He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy aboard the USS Leyte CVS32. Following his military service, he was employed by the International Union of Crane Operators, Local #14 of New York.

Gary was married to his loving wife Lois for 55 years until her passing on March 20, 2016. He and Lois made Citrus County, FL their home in 1999 after relocating from Staten Island, NY. He was a Christian by faith and attended worship services at the Unity Church of Citrus County in Lecanto, FL. In his spare time, Gary enjoyed going to flea markets, woodworking and wood carving. He was a member of the Woodcarvers Guild of Citrus County and the Beverly Hills Craftsman Guild. Gary also enjoyed tinkering in the garage and taking things apart and putting them back together. He also enjoyed studying history, especially the histories of World War I and World War II.

Those left to mourn Gary’s passing include his four sons: Scott Lawson and his wife Lynn of Lithia, FL, Glenn Lawson and his wife Susanne Thomas of Christianburg, VA, Robert Lawson and his wife Amy of Staten Island, NY, Gregory Lawson on Staten Island, NY; brothers: Donald Lawson of Red Bank, NJ, William Lawson of Palm Bay, FL; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

The committal service with full military honors at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL is scheduled for Monday, October 18, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Gary’s memory to Vitas Hospice Healthcare, PO Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464 or The Alzheimer’s Association, PO Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011. Cremation care was provided by the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
