Mauricio “Maurice” Velasquez, age 80, Lecanto, FL., formally of Sugarmill Woods, Homosassa died Nov 21, 2019 at the Vitas Hospice Unit in Lecanto, FL. A native of El Salvador, he was born April 6, 1939 to the late Joaquin C. and Concepcion (Menjivar) Velasquez, and came to this area from Miami in 2006. He retired as a corporate accountant and manager for the Best Foods grocery chain following 30 years of service and was a member of St Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church in Homosassa, FL.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 50 years, Margaret Flaherty Velasquez of Lecanto; 1 brother and sister, Alfredo Valasquez and Gloria Lopez, both of California; nieces & nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered from St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in San Francisco, CA on Wednesday, Dec 11, 2019. Entombment will follow in Olivet Memorial Park in Colma, CA. Local arrangements are under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, FL.
