Garland Thomas Wheaton of Homosassa, FL peacefully passed away at his home on September 29, 2019. He was 71 years of age. Garland was born in Lincoln, ME on October 6, 1947 to the late Freese and Joan (York) Wheaton and had been a resident of Florida for the past 16 years. He was previously employed by Lincoln Pulp and Paper and the James River Paper Company in Old Town, Maine. After relocating to Appleton, WI, he went to work for the Beloit Corporation. After retiring from the paper industry, Garland worked as a Realtor for Coldwell Banker Real Estate in Appleton. Once he relocated to Homosassa, FL, he became a small business owner and operated Wheaton’s Home Services until he retired.
Garland is survived by Christine (Curtis) Wheaton, his loving wife of 50 years; daughters: Cathy Lison and her husband Tom of Appleton, WI, Heidi Hull and her husband Jeff of Avon Lake, OH; two beloved grandsons; two brothers; and one sister.
Following cremation, Garland’s family will spread his ashes in Maine at a later date. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
