Gerald “Gerry” Ernest Stiles, age 65, Inverness, Florida passed away suddenly on August 22, 2019. Gerry was born in Hornell, NY on December 7, 1953 to the late Ernest W. and Marilyn (Budde) Stiles and moved to Inverness in 1984.
He was the owner and operator of G E Stiles Cabinets in Inverness for 35 years. When visiting his shop, you could always expect to stay awhile and talk wood and local news with Gerry and his part-time woodworking buds. It was important for him to preserve the history of natural wood. His appreciation for wood and preserving it in its natural state would result in many long conversations with friends and clients.
Gerry was a master craftsman whose custom wood cabinets and furniture can be found from the Bahamas to New York. He would use custom wood ordered from all over the world; he even had to use turn of the century church pews given to him to create masterpieces for his friends and many customers. He had a soft spot for helping children with their projects in Cub and Eagle Scouts. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need.
Left to mourn his loss are his brothers: David Stiles of Wayland, NY and Raymond Stiles of Rexville, NY; his sister, Elora Ringelberg of Hilton, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date in October. The Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home With Crematory is assisting the family with cremation care arrangements.
