Ida Mae Ponton, 92, St. Petersburg, FL passed away July 29, 2019 at Lexington Health & Rehabilitation Center in St. Petersburg. Mrs. Ponton was born in Chincoteague Island, Virginia on June 6, 1927 to the late Andrew and Lillian (Whitlock) Wage. She came to Floral City from St. Petersburg, and later returned there to be near her family. She had resided at Lexington for the past 5 years. Ida was a retired bookkeeper and while living in Floral City, was a active member of V.F.W. Post No.7122 Auxiliary, where she was a Life Member and served as the Post Treasurer.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Wilfred E. Ponton, Jr and his wife Monica of St. Petersburg, FL; her sister, Blanche Hitchens of Laurel, Delaware; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; Sister in law, Virginia Wage, Seaford, DE; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred E. Ponton, Sr, on March 18, 2001, her son, Charles R. Ponton on March 4, 2004, her daughter, Patricia March; her sisters, Agnes Wolf, Mary Quesenberry, Elizabeth Phillips, and her brother, James Wage.

Following cremation, Ida’s urn will be placed in the columbarium beside her husband at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.
