Gloria Jane Buchanan, age 90, passed away June 19, 2019 while under the care of HPH hospice at her residence in Hernando. Gloria was born to the late Howard Raymond and Gladys Theresa (Rollins) Blodgett on September 22, 1928 in Bethlehem, NH. She was married to her loving husband Murdock Bucky’ Buchanan for 68 years until his passing on April 30, 2018. Gloria and Murdock made Florida their home 2 years ago after relocating from Gray, ME. In her spare time she enjoyed golf, reading, listening to hymns, and bingo. She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed cooking. Gloria loved dogs and horses, and enjoyed camping in New Hampshire as a young woman and traveling. She was a woman of deep faith, and her joy was her family and grandchildren and her life was centered on them. Her caring and loving nature extended beyond her family, as she truly enjoyed helping and caring for others.
Those left to mourn Gloria’s passing include her son, Thomas Buchanan and his wife Pamela of The Villages, FL; daughters: Debra A. Hale and her husband Donald of W. Burke, VT, Bette J. Harmon and her husband Paul of Inverness, FL, Barbara J. Foster and her husband Phil of Gray, ME; brothers: John Blodgett and his wife Mary of W. Burke, VT, William Blodgett and his wife Marge of Littleton, NH; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Gloria was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond, Wayne and Robert Blodgett; and sister, Janice Drew.
Gloria will be laid to rest with her husband Murdock at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL at a later date. Cremation care is under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
