Robert Edward Carl Krebs, age 92, of Dunnellon, FL passed away at his home on June 2, 2019. Robert was born to the late Edwin and Emeline (Ostman) Krebs on May 16, 1927 in Orange, NJ. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy and was a Veteran of World War II. Robert went on to work as a manager for Lear Jet. After retirement, he made Florida his home in 1988 after relocating from Michigan. A Christian by faith, he was an active member of the Living Water Wesleyan Church in Dunnellon, where he often served as a greeter. Robert was an avid collector of model trains. He was a founding member of the Citrus Model Railroading Club and had created a scale model of the Inverness railroad station. Robert was extremely talented at creating model rail lines that his work was featured in a 2017 model railroad collector calendar. He enjoyed music a great deal and his favorite musical was The Music Man. Robert recreated the railroad village from the musical in model form.
Those left to mourn Robert’s passing include his loving wife of 8½ years, Betty Krebs; sons: Steven (Laurie) Krebs of Marquette, MI, Robert “Butch” (Deb Crown) Krebs of South Royalton, VT; daughter, Kathleen Cottingham of Durham, NC; stepchildren: Jan (Keith) LaDucer of Ocala, FL, Marie Steinhaus of Foley, AL, Norma Jean Lafferty of Ocala, FL, Jonathan Lafferty of Belding, MI, Benjamin Lafferty of Ocala, FL; grandchildren: Jennifer Aerts, Brian (Lacey) Cottingham, Kevin Cottingham; and a great many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his daughter, Shari Krebs Aerts; and sister, Joanne Bodkin. Robert will also be missed by his Shih-Tzu, Sandy.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is scheduled for Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Living Water Wesleyan Church in Dunnellon. Cremation care is under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
