John Herman Wilson, Jr., age 97, of Inverness, FL passed away at Bayfront Health Seven Rivers in Crystal River, FL on March 16, 2019. John was born on February 14, 1922 in Springfield, TN to the late Sarah Taylor (Warren) and John Herman Wilson, Sr. He proudly served his country as a Captain in the United States Air Force and was a Veteran of World War II.
John, affectionately known by all as Jay, never retired and worked all his life in the fashion industry. In 1986 he married his wife Lillian and they made Citrus County their home in 1999 after relocating from Tarpon Springs, FL. John was a Baptist by faith and attended services at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Inverness, FL. John truly loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting quail and participating in field and trial competitions with his beloved English Pointers.
In addition to his wife Lillian, those left to mourn John’s passing include his daughter, Janelle Wilson; stepdaughter, Monica Saldarriaga, stepson, Sergio Saldarriaga, Emily Wilson, wife of his late brother, Don Taylor Wilson, his niece, Claudia Belcher, and his nephews, Don Wilson Jr. and James Barry Wilson. He was preceded in death by two brothers: James and Don Taylor Wilson. John’s urn will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery at a later date. Cremation care is under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
