Jacqueline Leah Asher, age 80, of Citrus Springs, FL passed away at her home while surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, March 5, 2019. Jacqueline was born on January 25, 1939 in Lainsgburg, MI to the late Naaman Elden and Theola Helene (Brewer) Holder. On July 4, 1959 she married Kenneth E. Asher with whom she shared 56 years of loving marriage until his passing on Oct 27 2015. She enjoyed travelling and experiencing new places. Between her father being a member of the United States Navy and Air Force and her husband being a member of the United States Air Force she travelled extensively throughout her life and lived in many different areas of the world. She enjoyed traveling with her son and husband around the United States to visit relatives and visit historic sites along the way such as Mount Rushmore and Yellowstone Park. When she and Ken settled in Citrus Springs for their “Golden Years” she often said it was her favorite place to be of all the places that she had been. Jacqueline was a Club Manager at K.I. Sawyer AFB in upper Michigan and at Offutt AFB in Omaha, NE. She was particularly proud of her work at Offutt since it is the location of the USAF Strategic Air Command. She was an incredibly talented artist that created many beautiful oil paintings, and several other wondrous works of art in other mediums. Jacqueline had been an avid bowler up in to her 60s and a gifted trumpet player in her youth. She enjoyed gardening but especially enjoyed gardening and growing tomatoes and flowers with her daughter in law Erika. She kept up with current events and had an informed opinion on most subjects of importance. Jacqueline also loved hummingbirds. This fondness was developed as she spent many hours watching them from her window at home in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula while recovering from cancer in 1995. She enjoyed many types of music and especially liked it when her son and sister would play their guitars and sing for her. An excellent fisherman, she would not only catch the largest but also the most fish whenever she would go on fishing trips with family and friends.
Those left to mourn Jacqueline’s passing include her loving son, Clinton Asher and his wife Erika of Beverly Hills, FL; her beloved sister and caregiver Suzie Benko and her husband Steve of St. Ignace, Mi; grandchildren: Angelena, Kenny, Elizabeth, and Raechel.
Jacqueline will be laid to rest with her husband at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
