Doreen Joyce Smith, age 91, of Dunnellon, FL passed away at her home while under the care of hospice on March 2, 2019 with her loving daughter by her side. Doreen was born on January 13, 1928 in Jamestown, N.Y. to the late Gilbert and Hazel (Seaholm) Johnson. She was married to her husband Clifford Smith until his passing on June 8, 2008. Doreen and Clifford made Florida their home after relocating from Lakewood, N.Y. In 1989 after retirement from General Telephone Electronics in St. Petersburg, they settled in Inverness for 10 years before moving to Dunnellon 20 years ago. Doreen enjoyed knitting and reading. In their younger years, she and her husband enjoyed ballroom dancing, boating and fishing together. Most recently, her favorite pastime was working in her yard and gardening.
Those left to mourn Doreen’s passing are her daughter, Roxanne Rae Roschek and her fiancé James Abig of Omro, WI; grandchildren: Michael, Holly and David Huntington; and seven great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Doreen was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Lynn Nichols in 2001 and her sisters, Dorothy Dahlberg and Dolores Mac Neill. Cremation care is under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
