Phyllis Ann Neal went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 3, 2019 under the loving care of Vitas Hospice House in Lecanto, Florida. She was born February 14, 1935 in Elm Grove, West Virginia to Gus W. Freyler and Edna Ray Boone-Freyler. Phyllis graduated from Wheeling General Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked private duty cases in Fort Lauderdale, and retired from Barkley Place in Ft. Myers where she lived prior to moving to Inverness to be near her nephews’ families ten years ago.
After nursing school Phyllis met and married her husband of 55 years, Harold Richard “Dick” Neal, a licensed funeral director. Phyllis and Dick loved to travel and took many cruises and other trips to places around the world. Together over the years they were involved in numerous charitable causes such as The American Cancer Society Relay for Life, homeowner association leadership roles and activities, Kiwanis International Club projects, and Presbyterian Church religious undertakings. She cherished her family and community which led to a life well lived.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents some years ago, and by her husband in 2011. She is survived by her sister Delores Porter, and her brother William J. Freyler, both of West Virginia. Also surviving Phyllis are her nieces and nephews: Janice McIntosh (Mike); Lisa Orlofske (Kevin); Curtis Neal (Vickie); and James Neal (Alice), all residents of Florida. Numerous great nieces and great nephews scattered throughout the United States live to remember her.
Private cremation service to be arranged at a later time, after which Phyllis will be reunited with Dick at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Her family would like to thank all the kind people at Superior Residences in Lecanto for the excellent care they provided to Phyllis for five years. Her wish was that in lieu of flowers that friends would make a donation to Vitas Hospice House, 3280 W. Audubon Path, Lecanto, FL 34461. Cremation with Care is under the direction of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness.
