Anita M Colvin

Anita Marie Colvin, age 96, Inverness, Florida passed away January 28, 2019 at Avante of Inverness. Mrs. Colvin was born in Chicago, IL on July 3, 1922 to the late Gottfried and Bertha Martinson and moved to Inverness in 1968 from Wisconsin. She retired from the Citrus County School Board with over 20 years of service, having been the secretary for several of the school administrators during her career. She was a 50 year member of the First United Methodist Church of Inverness.

A loving wife, mother and grandmother. Anita enjoyed cooking and having family for the holidays. She especially loved baking and sharing Christmas cookies. She was active in her church, volunteered for Meals on Wheels for many years and enjoyed spending time with her friends for Lunch Bunch. Anita also enjoyed swimming and watching Wheel of Fortune. After retiring she and her husband did a lot of traveling. She was very proud of her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Anita was a very kind, sweet lady. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Left to mourn her loss are her two children, Vicki Martin and her husband, Butch of Hernando, FL; Richard Colvin, Jr. and his wife, Stephanie of New Berlin, WI; 5 grandchildren: Kara Elson and her companion, Bret Bennett; Cory Colvin and wife, Meg; Joel Martin and companion, Kristina Garcia; Tony Colvin and wife, Leslie; Travis Colvin and wife, Erica; 11 great grandchildren: Regan Elson, Kyrsten Elson, Isabel Colvin, Osbourne Colvin, Owen Colvin, Lucy Colvin, Benjamin Colvin, Claire Colvin, Nora Colvin, Beau Colvin, and Brooks Colvin. She was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Richard W. Colvin; her 2 brothers, Warren and John Martinson, and her granddaughter, Olivia Colvin.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at 12 Noon from the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Rev Greg Kell officiating. Burial will follow in Florida National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until services begin. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association FL17, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60601. The family wishes to thank the staff of Avante of Inverness for their loving care of Anita over the last 3 years.
