Where Planning Is A Gift That Lives On
Ralph R. Reeves

Ralph R. Reeves

Ralph Roland Reeves, 94 of Hernando, went to be with the Lord Jesus on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at Diamond Ridge in Lecanto. Mr. Reeves was born on May 7, 1924, in North Little Rock, Arkansas, to the late Henry Pleasant and Maybelle Boroughs Reeves. He came to Florida in 1985 from Wheaton, Illinois.

Ralph retired as an industrial mechanic from American Can Company. He served as a Marine during WWII in many arenas, most notably Iwo Jima on the day the famous flag was raised. He took his family to church every time the doors were open, served on the church board and led worship. His church families over the years were Bethel Temple Assembly of God in Chicago, Wheaton First Assembly of God in Illinois, 1st Assembly of God in Inverness, Fl, Covenant Church of God in Floral City, FL and Calvary Church in Inverness. He was a spiritual leader to his family and taught them how to love Jesus. He was known for his quick wit, great advice, excellent story-telling, and a signature half smile that would escape his face when he was delivering a punch line.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 70 years, Clarola Ruth Reeves, his daughters: Ruth “Gail” Pastor and husband John of Hernando and June Lorraine Black and her husband Cliff of Sanford, Fl; his 7 grandchildren: Luke Pastor, Cheri Pastor Thomas, Jazmin Reeves Brokaw, Forest Reeves, Candace Black Nance, Casi Black Baker and Christi Black, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Ralph was one of 12 children born to Henry and Maybelle. He was preceded in death by his son Ralph Reeves Jr. and all of his 11 siblings.

A celebration of Ralph’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at 12 noon, at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home in Inverness with Rev. Luke Pastor, Rev. Dairold Rushing, and Rev. Rick Welshans officiating. Burial will follow at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell with Rev. Ottis Barnett officiating, including military honors rendered by the Marine Corps League Archambault Detachment 819. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 AM until service time.
