Dorothy Grace Spitler, age 93, of Inverness, FL passed away on November 8, 2018 while under the care of Vitas Healthcare IPU in Lecanto, FL. Dorothy was born on July 26, 1925 in Henderson, MI to the late Howard and Grace (Spinning) Amos.
In 1946 she married Gerald A. Spitler with whom she shared 63 years of loving marriage until his passing in 2009. Dorothy made Citrus County, FL her home in 2009 after relocating from Michigan. She was Methodist by faith and a Lifetime Member of the VFW Auxiliary. In her spare time she enjoyed quilting, needlepoint and gardening. Dorothy was a great cook that also enjoyed canning and preserving the bounty from the family garden each year.
Those left to mourn Dorothy’s passing include her son, Duane Spitler and his wife Marilyn of Inverness, FL; daughter, Janet Skoog of Houston, TX; grandchildren: Kim, Amy, Brian, Michael; and great grandchildren: Eleanor and Freya. She was preceded in death by her brother, Carl; and sisters: Lois, Arlene and Lea. Following cremation, Dorothy’s urn will be laid to rest alongside her husband Gerald at a later date.
