Barbara Jane Pinkston-Moore, 73 of Inverness, passed away Sunday, November 4th, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Il. Barbara was born on February 5, 1945 in Kankakee, IL, to the late Fred Joseph and June Elaine (Yohn) Etchill.
She came to Citrus County in 1998 with her husband, Robert Pinkston, Sr. from Springfield, Illinois upon his retirement from the State of Illinois Vehicle Services where he worked for over 28 years. Barbara worked for the State of Illinois for 17 years in different agencies such as the Lottery and Department of Rehabilitation. They were married for 46 years until his death on September 7th, 2008.
Barbara also worked at the White Oaks Mall Florist Shop in Springfield, had a green thumb and also had a talented flair for decorating homes. In her youth Bob and Barb would go white water rafting, were avid bowlers and had won many bowling trophies in their leagues. Barb was also a talented afghan maker and pie baker.
Barbara was a long time member of the First Lutheran Church in Inverness. She was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She served in the past position of Vice President at First Lutheran. Barb was the 1st ever elected female Vice President there. She served from 2008 to 2012. She volunteered at First Lutheran in many capacities and she leaves many wonderful memories with those who loved her.
Barbara with her late husband, Robert Pinkston, Sr. were also avid collectors of Milk Glass and were members of the National Milk Glass Collectors Society for many years and had also served on its board in the past.
Barbara was also involved with two women’s groups in Inverness. The Mixed Nuts and The Chatterboxes, where she made many dear and very close friends that she loved very much and that she shared many laughs and made many wonderful memories with.
Barb was extremely blessed to have so many dear and close friends that loved her who will miss her deeply. Barb was always willing to help others with anything they needed. She was kind hearted, generous and always made people smile and laugh.
Barb was a huge dog lover and owned at the time of her death a beloved Shih Tzu named Murphy that she loved with all of her heart. Barb had been involved in dog rescue in the past and whenever a dear friend came by with their doggy sidekick or if she visited friends where she knew they had a doggy companion, she always had treats in her purse to spoil the owner’s pets. She never met a dog that didn’t love her and want her affection.
Barb was a very special person and after having been a widow for 4 years she happily was blessed with love a second time and was married on January 28th 2012 at First Lutheran Church to Franklin Arthur Moore surrounded by many happy family and friends.
Frank always told Mom he loved her everyday and she always loved to hear it. Frank and Barb were blessed to share over two happy and love filled years together until his passing on June 11th 2014.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Robert T. Pinkston, Jr., Elizabeth (William) Costales and Babette (Anthony) Hodge and Barb’s brother, Fred (Patricia) Etchill. Sister-in-law Mary Etchill. Uncle Frank Yohn Frank’s children: Jim (Nancy) Moore, Bob (Shelly) Moore, Charlie (Beth) Moore, Sue Glover and Sally Moore. Six grandchildren and one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Barb was preceded in death in addition to her parents: her first husband, Robert Taylor Pinkston, Sr, Second husband Franklin Arthur Moore and her brother Michael B. Etchill.
A celebration of Life Memorial Service for Barbara will be held on Monday, January 14th 2019 at 11 AM from the First Lutheran Church in Inverness, with Pastor Tom Beaverson and Pastor John Fischer, officiating.
Graveside committal services for Barbara and Robert Pinkston, Sr. will take place on Tuesday, January 15th, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Family and friends will gather at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness 1:00 PM to form the procession to the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Barbara Pinkston Memorial Fund, in care of Brannen Banks. Arrangements under the direction of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
