Maurice “Charlie” Edward Boyd, age 85, the loving husband and father of four children passed away at Arbor Trail Rehab and Nursing facility in Inverness, FL on October 31, 2018. Charlie was born on November 26, 1932 in Newburyport, MA to the late Morris and Elizabeth (Francoeur) Boyd.
He was a 1950 graduate of Newburyport High School. Charlie proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy for 4 years and went on to work as the Assistant Chief of Supply at Pease Air Force Base, retiring after 30 years of service.
On October 1, 1955 he married Ruth (Clancy), with whom he recently celebrated 63 years of loving marriage. Charlie and Ruth made Citrus County, FL their home in 1989 after relocating from Massachusetts. Charlie absolutely loved playing golf. He was also an avid bowler and enjoyed playing pool and basketball. Charlie was a member of the American Legion and the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge 2112, Lecanto, FL.
In addition to his loving wife Ruth, Charlie’s passing will be mourned by his daughters: Margaret Blount of Amesbury, MA, Cheryl Gove of Kittery, ME, Meredith Stickney of Kittery, ME, Teresa Theberge and her husband Joe of Stratham, N.H.; brother, Ronald Boyd and his wife Carol of Del Rio, TX; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Moose Lodge 2112, 221 S. Haid Terrace, Lecanto, FL. Another Celebration of Life will taken place in New England at a later date. Cremation care by the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
